To celebrate Valentine’s day, British Airways this week surprised 100 customers with the trip of a lifetime, by upgrading their seats from World Traveller (economy) to First.
The upgrades are part of the airline’s commitment to mark its centenary year with 100 acts of kindness as part of its #BAMagic100 campaign.
The unexpecting customers were surprised with the gesture as they checked in for their flights. Unbeknown to them, the airline was prepared behind the scenes to upgrade customers with inspiring stories. Once upgraded, the delighted customers were then directed to The First Wing where they got to start their luxurious First-class experience in style.
The airline captured customers’ reactions on camera; some were traveling to celebrate their wedding anniversaries, others to visit a loved one and some were embarking on a holiday of a lifetime. To view the video, click here.
Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ Director of Brand and Customer Experience, said: “Our #BAMagic100 campaign is all about saying thank you to our customers and we thought that Valentine’s Day would be the perfect opportunity to do this with a big gesture. The team at British Airways often go to great lengths to create memorable journeys, so we hope that those customers who were surprised will have a trip of a lifetime that they will never forget.”
The upgraded customers experienced British Airways’ First cabin. The exclusive cabin offers customers a private suite with a fully flat bad, a luxurious quilted mattress, crisp white cotton duvet and pillow and exclusive Liberty London amenity kits. Customers can also select from a delicious a la carte menu and enjoy a wide selection of fine wines and champagne.
The BA Magic campaign was launched in 2017, it has seen the airline arranging surprise proposals, reuniting loved ones, arranging money-can’t-buy experiences and creating holidays of a lifetime. The BA Magic series, which can be viewed here.
