Aurora Memorial National Park is a protected area if the Philippines located within the Sierra Madre mountain range between the provinces of Nueva Ecijand Aurora in Central Luzon. The park covers an area of 5,676 hectares stretching over 50 kilometers along the scenic Bongabon-Baler road. Established in 1937 by virtue of Proclamation No. 220, the park was dedicated to then First Lady Aurora Aragon Quezon. It had an initial area of 2,356 hectares. By 1941, its size more than doubled to its current area of 5,676 hectares. The maximum altitude of the park is reported to be 1,000 m, the main forest type inside the park must be lowland dipterocarp, with unlimited areas of montane forest. Land usage inside the park include both permanent second shifting agriculture (kaingin) secondary forestry.

The park is promoted by the local government as an eco-tourism destination. This is one the most important rain forests in this part of the region. Its location in the Sierra Madre range makes it a rich habitat to a diverse flora and fauna, including several species of amphibians, reptiles (lizards, snakes and turtles) and birds (vultures, falcons and hawks.) It is also home to the Luzon water-redstart and the endangered Philippine eagle.

This quiet 5,676 hectares of the forest park of Aurora Memorial National Park was established in 1937. The Aurora Memorial National Park is within the Sierra Madre, an elongated chain of mountains extending down the coast of north and central Luzon Island. The park is surrounded by rain forest, mossy forest, river and springs. It has a rich vegetation and home of wide diversity of flora and fauna. This serves as a home to 19 amphibians, 30 reptiles (lizards, snakes and turtle) it also serves as a home to the endangered Philippine eagle and Luzon water redstart, vultures, falcons and hawks.

Before entering the park a guide and permit if needed to proceed to the mountain peak. In order to protect the natural resources and preserve the area, the park was subjected to various activities that will initiate rehabilitation and restoration if the area organizing and training five forest guard our community, establishment if communal nursery, agro-forestry area, translation of biodiversity data to layman’s term, establishment of erosion bunds in the damaged sites of the forest, development of eco-tourism trails and site.
